Engineer’s Week Ireland took place from the 27th February – 5th March 2021.
Each day last week the children in 5th and 6th class were given a challenge.
Day 1: They learnt about women engineers and had to design and build a bridge.
Day 2: The children learnt about Irish Water and their challenge was to design and build a system for cleaning dirty water.
Day 3 : The presentation on Wednesday was What is Engineering? and the challenge was to design, build and test a boat.
Day 4: The challenge was to design and build a tower that would withstand a hurricane ( a fan on full power for 3 mins) and the children were provided with the latest issue of The Daily Stem.
Day 5 : On Friday they got to explore with Una and the challenge was a fun challenge, to grow a rainbow.
